9/4/2018 - Pajaritos

Hey, howsit? Everything's going good down here in the CDMX.  Elder Bednar's visit was insane. The spirit that man brings into a building is divine. I received a sincere witness that he is an apostle of the Lord and was foreordained to be one of the Lords servants. When he was talking it literally felt like the Lord was speaking directly to us. The rest of the week also went well, just working hard out here in Vergel. Thanks for the package I got everything and love it all.

This week we had an awesome experience on Sunday night. We had been praying all week that God would show us someone who was one of his elect, and Sunday night at about 8:30 we received a call from the hermanas in the CV and they gave us a reference.  We decided to look for the reference that night and after climbing up the apartment complex knocking on every door until we found her, we finally found her and  taught her for 10 minutes about the doctrine of Baptism and covenants. She accepted a baptismal date within 10 minutes of seeing us. It has been a converting process being able to see all the miracles that God has shown me in this last year and how willing he is to show miracles unto all of his children.

The family is looking good. Court looks like he might be beefin up though. #burlyboy, Speaking of that I've gained a little bit of weight recently. The members here feed like crazy and now I'm in a flat area so its not as easy to work off the food haha. Time to start perkisizing.

Crazy story... so Sunday morning there was a bird that got trapped in the house. It was trying to get out but couldn't find a way. So I had to buck up and put on my big boy pants and wrangle the sucker into submission. After I caught it we let it free. I probably got some disease from it though by touching a wild bird in the dirtiest city in the world but its all good. Sometimes you got to get your Steve Erwin on.

PS. READ THE BOOK OF MORMON. The prophets have said it over and over again. It is the tool to our conversion and if we do not read it and are not converted we will fall away. Please read it and if you are not reading daily, repent... and start reading :)
Love Ya

8/28/2018 - Conference with Elder Bednar

Here are some pics from the special conference that Elder Bednar came to.

8/27/2018 - Pata de Pollo

Aye Fam, wasgud?

This week flew by like they always do. Just preparing to be able to receive an apostle of the Lord. It has been interesting in these past few weeks to be able to study about the importance of apostles, and the role they play in the kingdom of God.

Also we found a miracle again... we were contacting in the street after just praying that God would show us someone who he was preparing to receive the Gospel and I contacted a lady who had attended church 5 times and wanted to be baptized. It was a humbling experience, the spirit rebuked me a little bit to be honest. it made me ask myself what did I do to deserve this? And even though I'm working hard there is still a long way to go until I become the missionary that the Lord wants me to be. The hermana will be baptized this week.

I also ate pata de pollo again, which is chicken foot. I also ate a chile de mordida. I'm literally just so Mexican aren't I? Grandma Kelsch would be proud of me and the pepper ruined me. It made me cry from the heat but you know what they say, "When in Rome"...  the hermana said it was hotter than the habanero which was also on the platter of spicy peppers I could have chosen to chew on. I thought " oh well this one is not the habanero so it must be less spicy" but I was wrong.

Oh yea I also had to do a miracle baptism interview for a companionship in the district at like 11 on Saturday night. They found a man who was ready and wanted to be baptized, it was pretty cool. but we got to sleep extremely late and had to wake up early on Sunday to be able to pass by for to get our investigators to church. That is pretty much all that happened this week. Sorry I live a boring life.
And happy birthday shout out to my girl Ash! love ya.

8/21/2018 - La Virgencita

Hey how are you? First off happy birthday shout out to papa! A huge role model in my life, I have been able to see the blessings of having a work ethic like him in my life.

This week was amazing. We found a family of three who told us they want to be baptized and are already on Nephi 8 in the Book of Mormon. so that is good... Julio got baptized this week. which was also a miracle. He refused to be baptized for like 25 years but he opened his heart and allowed the spirit of God to work in him.

My companion is awesome he reminds me a ton of Taylor, so we get a long well. and are working together extremely well. This new area is awesome and is super close to the temple so we are trying to utilize the visitors center more, which will be a huge blessing with investigators.

I bought a new suit and stocked up on new gs, my old ones are worn out and gross. That is awesome that football is starting. I'm sad that I'll miss it but only going to miss one more season so things are looking up. This place kind of reminds me of LA, just a little bit less Mexicans... hahaha jk. Love ya have a good week!

Love,
Elder McKade Erickson Adams

8/14/2018 - Mind Bottling...Like My Mind Is In A Bottle

Hey Ma. I love you and happy birthday. You're my favorite person ever, only behind the Lord.  Thanks for raising me in the atmosphere you did and teaching us correct principles.  For allowing us to exercise our agency upon the things that we knew. Because of that I have a testimony of the Gospel, and now have come to know, and Love the Lord. your the best mom. "you complete me".

In this last year, I have come to understand the principle of charity. The love one can have for another just for being a child of God and for desiring their salvation. I have come to know the joy that someone can have by living in accordance with the will of God and obeying his laws. I have come to see the mercy of the Lord and his hand in my life. I have felt and seen angels that he has sent to minister unto me, and unto the investigators that we teach. I have changed completely in this last year and still have a long way to go. I love the Lord and I love his church.

Alright now to the good stuff. This ward is fire, my friends. We have been getting references on top of reference on top of references. I am honestly a little overwhelmed because I came from wards where we had to do everything and I am freaking out a little bit but in the best of way. We are working excellent with the ward here. The Bishop is a BOSS. I gave a talk on Sunday and the Bishop's theme for all of the sacrament meeting was how we can baptize someone every week in the ward, so I am extremely happy where I am.

My comp Elder Daybell is awesome. He is the first companion I have had that I can relate to, and feel like I understand his situation, being my first American comp since my training. We are doing very good and he is progressing a lot in the language. We had a baptism this week and have one planned every week for the following few weeks. I am really seeing the miracles that God has in store for us.

And if it means anything to you, this area is a lot safer than my last areas haha. I'm on the border of Mexico City and the state of Mexico right now in a delegacion called Gustavo a Madero. We share a ward with some of the sisters from the visitors center and they are awesome as well. One of them is from Tijuana and she is extremely short, I have a picture with her I will attach.

The Grace of God is sufficient...
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Love you all,
Elder Adams

8/7/2018 - Change of Scenery

Yo yo yo, your boy got transferred .I am now in El Barrio Vergel, which is right by the temple, and technically just barely inside of Ciudad de Mexico. I'm on the border of the state of Mexico and the city but now I'm only like 10 minutes away from the visitors center. My new Comp is Elder Daybell, I finally got an American companion haha. He is from Spanish Fork. He just finished his training so we are helping get his Spanish up to par if you know what I mean. haha but its all good I'm still the new kid on the block.

I am not going to send pictures of the house because we live with another companionship and the house is wrecked so we have to do some deep cleaning before I'm sending anything. My last week in the other area was good. It was hard to say goodbye to the Villorin Family because we had helped them progress so much in the Gospel, but now its on to the next one. Stuff so far is a lot nicer here though so that is a plus. There is not much more to update on we will see how this week goes and I'll write you next week.  Love you. Happy Birthday to LaLa! A very special lady in my life. Love ya!

p.s. everyone has one of these crosses in their house at least this big but usually bigger and it frightens me slightly. i'm glad we don't use the cross as a symbol in the church. #thecurchistrue
