This week was good but I literally have no interesting stories or anything fun or cool to tell you unfortunately. My life is boring, just working out here in the Lord's vineyard all day. The days tend to blend into one. We did have divisions with Elder Galanti and Elder Gamez over in their area. It was fun, and I learned a lot of things from those two elders. They both go home soon and are seasoned vets out here. We also did divisions with another companionship in the district and it was very... interesting. It is very interesting being able to see how different people are, learning about their cultures, interests, and personalities. We are in the last week of the cycle, crazy how fast these last weeks have gone by.
Sorry I'm lame and don't have any amazingly cool experiences to tell every week, but I share you something that I studied in personal study this week.
Alma 14
25 And it came to pass that they all went forth and smote them, saying the same words, even until the last; and when the last had spoken unto them the power of God was upon Alma and Amulek, and they rose and stood upon their feet.
26 And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these great afflictions, O Lord? O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.
Sometimes we expect God to free us from our cords but we can not expect to stand back and let God work miracles. I love how it emphasizes that God strengthened them enough to break the cords but he did not loose the cords for them. Only after the exercising of their faith were they able to receive the strength from God to be able to break the cords. Without their demonstration of faith (action) nothing would have happened. I hope you will have time this week to be able to study this chapter in the book of Alma
